How AI memory works

Memory is what makes the AI in AmeChat feel like it knows you. Instead of starting cold every time, a model can remember what you have worked on, who matters to you and how you like things done — while leaving you in control of every fact it keeps.
What gets remembered
As you talk to a model, it can hold on to durable facts: an ongoing project, a preference in how you want answers, the people you mention often. Passing details from a single message are not memory — memory is the things that stay true across conversations.
Zones keep it organized
Memory is organized into zones rather than one long list, so related facts sit together — work in one area, people in another, preferences in another. Browsing your memory feels like looking at a tidy map of what the AI knows, not an opaque log.
Private by default
Your memory is yours. It is private by default, and a model only draws on the memory that belongs to the context you are in. In a group, shared recall is limited to public facts about the people in the conversation, never your private notes.
Browse, move or forget
You can open your memory at any time to see exactly what is stored. From there you can move a fact to a different zone, pin something important, or forget it entirely. Forgetting takes effect right away — the next conversation no longer draws on what you removed.
