Voice messages and transcription

Last updated: August 17, 2026

Sometimes it is faster to speak than to type. AmeChat lets you send a voice message in a moment, and turn it into text whenever reading is more convenient than listening.

Recording a voice message

Hold the microphone in the composer and speak, then release to send. Slide to cancel if you change your mind before releasing. Voice messages play back inline in the conversation like any other message.

Transcribing to text

Tap a voice message to transcribe it — the words appear as text you can read, search and quote. This is handy when you cannot listen out loud, or when you want to reply to a specific line. The free plan includes a few transcriptions every day; paid plans make transcription unlimited.

Transcription happens only when you tap. To produce the text, the audio is sent securely to our speech-to-text provider and used solely for that purpose; the result is treated like ordinary message text. See the Privacy Policy for details.

When to use which

  • Send voice when you are on the move or want tone to carry.
  • Transcribe when you are somewhere you cannot play audio, or want the message as searchable text.
