Start a chat

Last updated: July 6, 2026

A conversation in AmeChat is just a chat — whether it is with one person, a group, or a model. Here is how to open your first one and find your way around.

Open a direct message

Choose New chat and pick the person you want to talk to. Type in the composer at the bottom and send. That is it — you now have a direct message that stays in sync across all your devices.

Reply, react and thread

  • Reply to a specific message to keep context clear; the original is quoted above your reply.
  • React with an emoji for a quick acknowledgement without adding a new message.
  • Threads keep a side discussion tidy — replies collapse under the message they belong to instead of scrolling the main chat.

Send more than text

Attach files and images from the composer, or hold the microphone to record a voice message. Turn a voice message into text with one tap — a few free every day, unlimited on paid plans — see Voice messages and transcription.

Bring in AI when it helps

If a conversation would benefit from a model — to summarize, draft or explain — you can bring one in. In a direct message both people agree first; in a group the admin decides. See Bring AI into a chat.
